All net proceeds of the event will fund training and supplies to anti-poaching units operating on the front lines of the poaching war in South Africa, fund rhino conservation initiatives including installation of rhino tracking collars, notching and de-horning (one of the most effective anti-poaching strategies ) and will fund conservation education for the Mnqoboqazi community that surrounds the Mun-Ya-Wana wildlife conservancy in Kwazulu Natal South Africa, host to one of the biggest rhino populations in Africa.

Stop Rhino Poaching Foundation (SA Reg # 2011/127862/08), Chipembere Foundation (SA Reg# IT/95/2011) and Africa Foundation (EIN: 88-0461880) are the sole and direct beneficiaries of funds raised at this event.

Did you know: It is incredibly expensive to conserve rhinos.

It costs $3,500 to dehorn a rhino (this is one of the most effective anti-poaching strategies. A rhino horn grows back every 18 months), $3,200 to put tracking equipment onto a rhino, between $5,000 and $10,000 per ranger per year to be trained and equipped with the necessary tools to fight the war on poaching and to defend rhinos on the ground. It costs $50,000 to relocate a rhino. It costs up to $347,000 to conserve a large population of rhinos per year. It costs $8,000 per student for a 6-month intensive conservation training course in a wildlife reserve. A community conservation course educates and empowers rural communities surrounding wildlife reserves, and reduces the poaching threat significantly, not just to rhinos, but to elephants and pangolins.

Rhino Facts: Rhinos are a critically endangered species.

Over 30% of the rhino population has been lost to poaching in the last 10 years. An average of 3 rhinos a day, and an average of more than 1,000 rhinos have been poached each year between 2013 and 2017. 8,944 have been lost to poaching in Africa for period 2006-2017. The northern white rhino is now functionally extinct. There are just over 4,800 black rhinos left, 18,000 white rhinos left. South Africa is home to 80% of the world's rhinos. Rhino horn is now the highest price commodity in the world. More expensive than gold or cocaine. Rhino horn sells for $60,000 per kg. One rhino horn can sell up to $300,000. 4757 horns entered illegal markets in 2016/17. As estimated 5.1 tonnes per year.

Without significant support to anti-poaching units and rhino conservation initiatives, our rhino species is at severe and critical risk of being lost forever.
